Thanks to the generosity of individuals partnering with Friends to make a difference for animals in the community, 2023 was a very successful year. Some highlighted achievements include:

• Distribution of 10,340 pounds of dog food within Carter County

• Distribution of 5,475 pounds of cat food within Carter County

• Provided 280 low-cost vaccinations for pets

• Provided 30 free spay/neuters to low-income pet owners

• Enclosed 11 outdoor dog kennels with full heating and cooling as well as attached outdoor runs. Now the dogs aren’t freezing in the winter and over-heating in the summer!

• Installed new equipment and plumbing to fix 3 year old problem with waste disposal from standalone outdoor dog kennels. Now the staff can wash out the kennels hygienically!

• Funded medical treatment for several abused and starved Shelter animals

• Signed lease with City of Elizabethton for low cost Spay/Neuter Clinic land

• Clinic site plan approval by City Planning Commission

• Carried out initial groundwork and excavated Clinic building pad
